Haha! Historically, gargoyles served two purposes: 1) functional (as drainage to funnel water from rooftops) and 2) spritual (to keep evil spirits away). They're traditionally grotesque or scary for purpose #2. These guys are on the rooftop of the Barcelona Cathedral and serve both purposes, no doubt. Although the unicorn kind of perplexes me b/c it's a mystical figure (seemingly out of line for a Catholic Church) and not really grotesque...
