Truth be Told

The wanderlust thing does have its origins. I've lived in Hawaii, Tennessee, California, New York and most recently-- well, now, in fact, Illinois. Enough places, at my tender age, to hesitate when someone asks, "Where are you from?" While the New Yorker in me's knee-jerk response is to offer the caustic retort, "Why do you want to know?", the well-mannered lass that my parents raised quickly resurfaces. Truthfully? I haven't a clue where to say I'm from. I lived in Los Angeles and New York for equal amounts of time. I love them both-- I know, I know, sacreligious. But I do! At this point, nowhere really feels like home.

And as for this never really traveling thing, that's not exactly true either. While my travel currently consists of trips to random U.S. cities, the source of my disgruntledness stems from the fact that I was hoodwinked into believing that the 50% travel required for my job at an international company meant that the travel would be OUTSIDE of the U.S. Instead I find myself in lovely places like Tampa, Hartford and Phoenix. Joy.

But if anyone is to blame for the lack of exciting travel, that would be me... my indecision, inability to commit (umm... and that would be to anything these days, not just travel) and ultimately decide where I'd like to spend my hard-earned cash, is absolutely my fault. But I'm convinced that this is the year-- the year that I am going somewhere exciting, somewhere far away, and just for me. And I'm not going to feel guilty for not spending every waking moment of my limited vacation days with my family.

My Dear Lauli'i

My oldest and dearest friend, the BFF kind of friend, gave birth to her first child today-- Karly Rose. She's beautiful, of course, just like her mother. I can't wait to meet her, and see this little thing that we always dreamed about. Now it's time to go shopping on Weddington! MnEXOXO.
